Meet our first Eco-Champion, Cecil from Harmony Court!
Cecil is an avid gardener who has transformed the gardens of Harmony Court with a stunning selection of seasonal plants, vegetables, and herbs. From strawberries, raspberries, and cherries to potatoes, garlic and cauliflower, Cecil’s garden is a true testament to eco-living. He also grows a variety of herbs like basil, parsley, and rosemary, which he uses to spice up his delicious home-cooked meals.
Not only has Cecil created a thriving herb garden and raised beds, but he has also enhanced the communal gardens at Harmony Court, making the space more beautiful for everyone and creating a relaxing place for his neighbours to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Cecil has also installed bat and bird boxes on trees onsite, providing a safe place of shelter for native wildlife.
But that’s not all – Cecil also has a wormery, where he composts food waste to create eco-friendly, nutrient-rich soil for his plants. Wormeries are an excellent way to recycle organic waste, reduce landfill, and help plants grow stronger. The benefits include reducing the need for chemical fertilisers and promoting healthier, more sustainable gardening practices.
Thank you for sharing your incredible garden with us Cecil, and best of luck with this year’s Clanmil in Bloom!
