People living at Graham Gardens and Wardsborough apartments in Lisburn joined with Clanmil and local community partners for a successful Community Day, bringing people together for an afternoon of food, fun and community engagement.

The event, organised by Clanmil Housing, was attended by the Mayor and Chief Executive of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, alongside customers and representatives from local agencies.

Attendees enjoyed hot food, sandwiches and refreshments, while children took part in face painting and games throughout the day.

The event provided an opportunity for customers to meet with Clanmil staff, local representatives and partner organisations, while celebrating the community and encouraging positive connections across the Graham Gardens and Wardsborough developments.

The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Brian Higginson, said:

“I was delighted to join residents, Clanmil staff and community partners at the Graham Gardens and Wardsborough Community Day. It was clear to see the pride residents take in their neighbourhood and the strong community spirit that has developed here. Events like this help bring people together, foster positive relationships and showcase the benefits of partnership working in creating welcoming, vibrant places to live.”

Cathy Stewart, Area Housing Manager at Clanmil, said:

“It was fantastic to see so many customers from Graham Gardens and Wardsborough come together and enjoy the Community Day. Events like this are a great opportunity for customers to meet their neighbours, connect with local partners and enjoy the shared spaces within their community.

“We were delighted to welcome the Mayor and Council Chief Executive and we really appreciate their support. It was also wonderful to see the communal garden being enjoyed by customers and their families and to see the positive community spirit throughout the day.”

Chief Executive of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, David Burns, said:

“Following Clanmil’s £10m investment to build these 60 homes approximately seven years ago, it was a pleasure to meet with their hard-working staff and residents. The residents have taken pride in their homes and created a real sense of community by improving their open space areas.”

Clanmil customer Marie Beaumont said:

“I love my apartment. It’s so close to everything and my neighbours are brilliant. I have been here for over four years and am so happy. Since the communal garden has been done up, everyone has been out in it and it’s great to see events like this bringing everyone together.”

The Community Day is part of Clanmil’s ongoing work with customers and local partners to support strong, connected communities in Graham Gardens and Wardsborough.
