What is domestic abuse?
Domestic abuse is not always physical.
It can include:
- physical abuse
- emotional or psychological abuse
- sexual abuse
- financial or economic abuse
- controlling or coercive behaviour
- threats and intimidation
- online or technology-facilitated abuse
Domestic abuse can happen within a current or former relationship or between family members.
It is never your fault.
Domestic abuse and housing
Domestic abuse can affect where someone lives and whether they feel safe in their own home.
Someone experiencing abuse may feel that they have no choice but to leave their home. They may also want to remain at home but need help to make it safer.
