Clanmil’s Young Growers Easter Programme a Big Success at Harmony Court, Belfast Posted on 20 April 2026
Children living near Harmony Court in North Belfast enjoyed a fun-filled and educational Easter thanks to a successful Young Growers Programme delivered by Clanmil Housing Association.
The programme, held at Harmony Court on Legann Street, ran across three sessions over the Easter holiday period and provided young participants with hands-on activities focused on gardening, sustainability and the natural environment.
Throughout the programme, children learned how to plant and grow their own fruit and vegetables, explored the benefits of organic gardening, and discovered simple ways to support local wildlife. Activities included creating bird feeders and painting bird houses, which participants were able to take home.
The sessions were led by Clanmil’s Environmental Champion Cecil, a resident of Harmony Court, whose enthusiasm and knowledge helped inspire the children to engage with nature in a meaningful way. Support was also provided by Thomas Turley and youth workers from Ardoyne Youth Enterprise, helping to ensure the programme ran smoothly and was enjoyable for all involved.

Clanmil’s Energy and Environmental Officer, Isobel Clarke, also played a key role in delivering the initiative.
Speaking about the programme, Isobel said:
“It’s incredibly important to help young people understand the environment and how they can play a part in protecting it. This programme gave children the chance to connect with nature, learn about sustainability, and hopefully inspire a lifelong interest in caring for the world around them.”
The Young Growers Easter Programme is part of Clanmil in Bloom, an initiative aimed at encouraging young people to connect with nature, learn new skills and take pride in their local environment. To find out more about Clanmil in Bloom, click here.
