Energy Saving Week 17– 21 October 2022 Posted on 17 October 2022

Clanmil are delighted to be able to support Energy Week again this year, working with the Energy Saving Trust and other stakeholders across NI from 17 to 21 October 2022.

There is a high level of fuel poverty in NI and this has been compounded by the cost of living crisis and the energy price increases over the past year.

Here are some of the ways you can take action to save on energy costs.

  1. Energy Efficiency – Consider ways to save energy and reduce costs.

  2. Energy Costs – With rising energy prices it’s even more important to consider switching suppliers or make sure you are on the best arrangements with your current suppliers. With the £400 government grant coming in November, and the energy price cap which has yet to be finalised, you should check with your current supplier that you can switch supplier without penalty. It's important to know that switching supplier will not affect you getting this government support.

  3. Income – Make sure you are receiving all the benefits and support you are entitled to by having a benefits entitlement check carried out. Speak to a member of our Money Advice Team if you have any questions about this.

Clanmil will be investing £250,000 in 2022/23 to improve the energy efficiency rating of the poorest performing homes.

We will target a number of homes where the EPC rating is particularly poor and aim to improve the efficiency of these through a number of measures including cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, upgrading heating systems and controls, and much more.

This will help us to achieve our environmental strategy target of ensuring all of our homes have an EPC rating of at least a ‘C’ by 2030.

Each day this week we will sharing information about how you can reduce your energy consumption at home, while minimising the impact on the environment.

We've also created a series of information leaflets that you can view on our website.

Have a look on our social media channels this week for advice on these topics:
