Work has started on the construction of twelve much needed new family homes at Glenbryn Park in North Belfast.

Clanmil already provides 12 houses in Glenbryn Park, completed in 2017, and these additional new homes are scheduled to be ready for handover to families who need them in Spring/Summer 2022.

The construction contract has been awarded to Magherafelt based M J McBride Ltd and the eleven three-bedroom semi-detached houses and one three-bedroom bungalow have been designed by Doherty Architects to the Lifetime Homes and Secured by Design standards, which ensure added security and flexibility of adaptation if required at a later date.

Clanmil Housing will fund the £1.6 million development with the assistance of grant support from the Department for Communities via the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

Welcoming the new development, William Humphrey MLA said:
"I am pleased to see the next phase of social housing underway in Glenbryn. My colleague, Cllr. Dale Pankhurst and I have been working with CRUA, in lobbying for this much needed housing in the area. This significant investment by Clanmil Housing Association is most welcome. These new three bed properties will provide high quality family housing for upper Ardoyne. I have no doubt that the scheme will be a real boost to the community and importantly help retain and attract families."

Ronnie Black of Concerned residents of Upper Ardoyne joined Mr Humphrey and Clanmil's Andrew Corkill on site. He said:
"Concerned residents of Upper Ardoyne are excited to welcome the new families who will be moving into their new homes here. We're thrilled that work is starting and that our community will be growing bigger and stronger."

Andrew Corkill, Clanmil's Development and Construction Manager, said: "At Clanmil we believe that everyone should have a good home and we are delighted to see work starting here at Glenbryn Park. These houses will bring the number of homes we provide in North Belfast to 820. We are keen to build more and would love to hear from anyone who has, or knows of, a potential development site that could help us deliver more new homes where they are needed.
