Nostalgic movie goers living at Clanmil Housing developments in Ballymena, Antrim and Magherafelt took a trip down memory lane on Tuesday 26th March at a special showing of the film classic 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' in the Wild Duck Inn, Portglenone.



The one-off screening was the result of an ongoing partnership between Film Hub NI and Clanmil Housing.  Together, the two organisations are bringing film right into the heart of the communities where Clanmil works. While previous showings in Belfast, Bessbrook and Dungannon have targeted families and young people, Tuesday's movie was specifically chosen to appeal to an older audience.

The event was one of the first to come from a new community network established by Clanmil tenants living in the Ballymena and Antrim areas. The aim of the network is to help people living in these neighbourhoods collaborate on initiatives to improve health and wellbeing in their communities.

More than 60 people attended the free showing from five of Clanmil's Independent Living housing schemes - Slemish Court and Moatview in Ballymena, Gloonan House in Ahoghill, Allen Court in Antrim, Brennan Court in Magherafelt and Clanmil's new family development, Wakehurst Court in Ballymena. Transport to the Wild Duck Inn was provided as well as a light lunch, before everyone settled in to enjoy the movie.

Linda Hargy from Wakehurst Court said "I really enjoyed the event today. It's great seeing so many people from different areas living in Clanmil properties enjoying a lunch and watching a classic film together.  There was a warm friendly atmosphere throughout the day.  It's nice knowing that Clanmil try to encourage tenant participation in this way".
