People living in Clanmil homes in Newtownards gathered at Cloud 9 Cafe on Wednesday 1st July for a community listening event and family fun day organised by the housing association.
The event was the first of its kind to be held by Clanmil in Newtownards, following the success of similar listening events in Derry/Londonderry and North Belfast.

As well as providing a chance for tenants to speak directly with Clanmil staff, the event brought neighbours together for an afternoon of family-friendly activities, helping to strengthen community connections. As well as meeting the Clanmil team, customers of all ages had a chance to get to know their neighbours while enjoying great food and taking part in fun activities.
Highlights included a raffle, arts and crafts activities, face painting, a bouncy castle, a bubble show and lots of treats for all ages to enjoy.

Clanmil customer, Karen Williamson said: ‘I had a great time at the event. I enjoyed a wee ice cream while watching the bubble show, which was lovely. I also had a chance to chat with Adele, my Housing Officer, and was able to report some repairs.  Someone is now coming out to see me about my mobility scooter. The kids had a brilliant time too. They especially loved the bubbles, the ice cream and the goodie bags.’

Lucy Bryan, Community Organiser at Clanmil added:
‘Clanmil's community events provide an opportunity for customers and staff to come together, share experiences and strengthen community connections. Customer feedback plays a vital role in helping Clanmil continually improve its services and support people to live well in their homes.

The Newtownards event gave customers the chance to connect, enjoy a family-friendly day and speak directly with Clanmil staff about their experiences, helping to build stronger relationships and a greater sense of community.’
