Work has begun on a new development of 36 high-quality social homes delivered by Clanmil Housing on New Market Street in Coleraine town centre.

The development will transform a vacant and largely derelict site, providing much-needed new homes in an established residential area and helping to regenerate an important town-centre location.

The scheme will comprise two blocks of accommodation and will provide a mix of houses and apartments designed to meet a range of housing needs.

The development comprises eight two-bedroom duplex houses, 17 two-bedroom apartments and seven one-bedroom apartments. Four wheelchair-accessible homes will also be provided, comprising one two-bedroom duplex house, one two-bedroom apartment and two one-bedroom apartments.

The site is located between 26 New Market Street and the pedestrian link between New Market Street and Dirty Lane. Amenities including shops, churches and public transport facilities all within easy reach.

With suitable development sites for social housing remaining limited in the area, the New Market Street scheme represents an important investment in Coleraine and will help meet the significant demand for housing locally.

The homes will meet current Building Regulations as well as Lifetime Homes and Secured by Design standards, providing safe, accessible and high-quality homes for future residents.
